About

Big flavours; small kitchens.
As cooks and Londoners, we are all too aware that the size of your home, unless you are one of the lucky few, is never going to be such bigger than a postage stamp. And unless it’s party time, kitchens can be the most neglected of all spaces in your house, seen as a place to grab a banana before rushing out for a full day at work before returning home only to heat up a ready-meal in your overworked microwave.

In this blog we intend on showing you the variety of food that you can cook easily in your neglected (or not-so neglected) kitchens. Like you, we don’t have a fancy place in which to cook. It is small but perfectly formed; there is nothing special about it in many ways and its most recent addition is probably the hardly-used microwave from 1987.

Ultimately we want to show people that you don’t have to have the latest gadgets and wizardry that Heston or the huge studio kitchens of Jamie has to make incredible food every day.

Who we are

howellandharte.com is the joint brainchild of Will Howell and Conor Harte. Both have learnt to cook from a young age, but started to explore the best ways to create simple and cheap dishes at university. Along with a number of cooking courses along the way, the two continue to explore ways to eat well for less.

Will is an English teacher and Conor works in advertising. The couple live and cook in Clapham.
